Share the Beat in Omaha Nebraska!

The James Redford Institute and the Nebraska Medical Center teamed up to present "Share the Beat!" on March 10, 2007. The Star-studded line-up included Tim McGraw, Phil Vassar, Rivers Rutherford, Alana Grace and celebrity host James Denton with appearances by James and Robert Redford.

Jamie Redford honored in Salt Lake City
On Saturday, February 4th, 2006, The National Kidney Foundation of Utah and Idaho and members of Utah’s Donate Life Coalition hosted a beautiful black tie gala to recognize outstanding efforts to promote the cause of organ donation and transplantation. Jamie Redford and JRI received the Gift of Life Award. Nancy Heigl and her daughter, Katherine Heigl, were honored with a special Volunteer for Life Award. Peter Graves, (from TV’s MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE series) was the evening's host and Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. of the 5th Dimension performed.


On October 9, 2004 in Provo, Utah, the world premiere of James Redford's directorial debut Spin, written and Executive Produced by Donald Everett Axinn, raised nearly $100,000 for The James Redford Institute for Transplant Awareness (JRI).  A dinner in theSundance Tree Room with a special performance by Rivers Rutherford followed the premiere.  A press release details both events. Share the Beat!
On Sat., Sept. 20, 2003 the James Redford Institute for Transplant Awareness and the Coalition on Donation hosted the First Annual “Share the Beat” Gala at the Cicada Restaurant, in downtown Los Angeles. Read more.



 

The All Star Charity Give Thanks, Give Life Celebrity Auction on November 14 - 27, 2001 raised thousands of dollars for JRI. Check out what was auctioned.

 

The Gift of the Heart Foundation honors Jamie Redford on February 20, 2002 with the Heart of Gold Award.
Hadassah -the largest women's organization wants to use the Flow Kit for Youth Initiative for organ, tissue and bone marrow awareness program in it's 1,100 US Chapters.  Contribute now to make that dream a reality!

The Links, Inc. - National Assembly, July, 2000
On July 6, 2000, Links, Inc. launched "Linkages to Life" an organ, tissue and bone marrow awareness program for their 270 Chapters.
Channel One Connection
On May 18th, 2000, FLOW, a unique short film encouraging teens and young adults to become potential organ donors, will premiere nationally on Channel One Connection, the largest provider of educational video programming to secondary schools in the United States. Click here to view the press release

PENNSYLVANIA EDUCATORS ATTEND PREMIERE OF NEW REDFORD FILM


Gift of Life Donor Program, in cooperation with the James Redford Institute for Transplant Awareness (JRI) present FLOW, an exciting new film to teach young people about the importance of organ and tissue donation. A special Educators Preview and Reception will be held Tuesday, April 11 at 6:00pm at the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

HBO Premieres JRI's Documentary
The Kindness of Strangers

We are pleased to announce that The Kindness of Strangers aired on HBO on September 23, 1999 at 7:30 pm with a well publicized premiere. See Photos from the premiere.

Discovery Channel Canada
Discovery Channel Canada has purchased the documentary The Kindness of Strangers for Canadian broadcast in Spring, 2000.

The Kindness of Strangers has won a Silver Plaque in the Social/Political Documentary category of the INTERCOM Film and Video Competition.

 

The Chicago Alt Film Festival and Fundraiser
June, 1999

Screening and Luncheon: Friday, June 11 from 12 - 1:30pm in the Winter Garden of the Harold Washington Library, Chicago IL. Speakers included the Illnois Secretary of State Jesse White and his sister, a liver recipient, Governor George Ryan, and Walter Payton of the Chicago Bears Football Organization.
